From Clapton To Weezer: Detroit's Loaded September Of Shows

September brought a packed concert calendar to Detroit's biggest venues, from a guitar legend at Little Caesars Arena to rock and country across the metro.
Detroit's live-music calendar ran hot through September, with the city's major venues hosting a steady stream of marquee acts and an estimated 65-plus concerts across the metro over the month.
Little Caesars Arena leads
The downtown arena anchored the month. Guitar legend Eric Clapton played September 6 with Jimmie Vaughan opening, followed later by Weezer's "The Gathering" tour on September 23 — supported by The Shins and Silversun Pickups — and Teddy Swims on his UGLY Tour on September 29.
Beyond the arena
The action spread across the region. Comerica Park hosted country star Dustin Lynch on September 11 and Mariachi Herencia de México on September 12, while Pine Knob Music Theatre drew hard-rock and hip-hop crowds with Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson on September 4 and Wu-Tang Clan on September 6.
A music town, in full
The breadth of September's schedule — classic rock, alternative, country, mariachi, metal, and hip-hop within a few weeks — is a snapshot of Detroit's appetite for live music. For a city that exports as much sound as any in America, a loaded concert month isn't an exception. It's the baseline.
